How much do you know about the new generation of B2B and demand generation in our digital marketing world?
- This week seminar is about B2B Marketing Panel, which teaches me as an audience of B2B Marketing and Demand Generation that I could apply the digital marketing skills into both marketing and sales side. I was so grateful to be part of the seminar with Julia Stowell, Carlos Araujo, and Jordan McCrindle. Our guests for this week are all coming from the Marketing background with a B2B experience.
- Julia mentioned that sales metrics to the funnels. Now, there are different stages and lots of content are changing. Marketing and sales should be working very closely together. People are calling, “Smarketing”. It means sales and marketing. Julia is working for just Marketing side, works for campaigns and conversions like sign-up conversion. UX means user experience and the UX department is directly reporting to her. She recommended to do B2C more than B2B because it is usually more interesting and fun based on the product promotion like video content creation.
- Thing that I have learned from this seminar:
1. Smarketing: Sales and Marketing
2. UX: User experience
3. The current trend of marketing: based on the medium- podcast
4. Demand Generation: It is about having the right people and the right time for content creation of website and paid organic. Social media is a strong choice for demand channel. These channels are linking to either B2B or B2C. It’s more based on the content creation.
5. Coffee talk with new people may guide you to a job opportunity in the field and industry.
6. Every 20 connection calls may select 4-5 people the opportunity, to talk to the person who works for the company.
7. This site may guide you a good chance of job hunting.

Now, he is currently working with Ada, a chatbot company. Chatbot helps customers and clients digitally in marketing team. In his opinion, he also thinks that podcast is a current trend for Marketing as well. Since chatbot works for customers closely, it is a B2C based marketing.

Toronto, Canada Area Director, Demand Generation at Softchoice
He has more than 500 connections on LinkedIn. Softchoice: the company sells technologies, it is the largest company in North America and selling anything that technologies related. He always joked around that he was from the Marketing side to dark side. Marketing with the mind, the moment that you think that way, the moment it will drive you to. Strong brand is also important in Marketing. The company was starting from 50 employees to 5,000 employees.

More facts that I’ve learned from this week seminar:
Even though an introvert can be an expert in Marketing, be the right person in the right time. We always need to be prepared for any interview and be punctual for it. We always need to reread for content creation, especially email. Do not bring your personal stuff to work. We always need to be professional and acting like there is always people looking at you while working. We need to be professional and separate our personal life and work life.
